The answer
Among AI-using businesses, 95.7% reported no change in total employment due to AI, 2.3% reported an increase, and 2.0% reported a decrease during the preceding six months.
How to read this finding
The unit is the business. A percentage of businesses reporting decreases is not the percentage of workers losing jobs. Employment can stay constant while assignments, required skills, or work processes change. Respondents’ attribution to AI is not a controlled estimate of causality.
Detailed AI supplement: collected November 17, 2025–February 8, 2026; released April 23, 2026. Past-use questions look back six months unless otherwise specified; future questions look forward six months from the survey response.

A practical business conversation
A useful employer discussion considers changing responsibilities, training, and review duties alongside staffing. An implementation service can help document what employees will do after a workflow changes, rather than promising a staffing outcome from these aggregate findings.
Report business responses faithfully and keep worker-level outcomes separate.
What this evidence cannot establish
This question does not measure wages, occupations, hours saved, the number of jobs added or lost, or employees’ independent experiences. It is historical self-reported evidence.
